Jim Wiltinger Wins Steve Wiltinger Memorial Outing

Jim Wiltinger (aka Mr. Holcombe) dominated the annual outing held in memory of his brother on Lake Holcombe. Jim boated 5 tournament eligible muskies with the largest being 47.5". In anticipation of a big front coming in on Saturday morning, a lot of musky hunters were out in force on Friday. Some fisherman ventured out very early on Saturday morning to try and catch a musky feeding frenzy just before the front that arrived around 6:30 Saturday morning. The anglers who made it out were greeted with some good musky activity, but not many "big girls" were showing themselves and certainly were still not interested in eating. The steady rain ended around 10:00 a.m. and very nice weather day was welcomed by the outing anglers. In all, 13 fish were registered. . About 10 fish were PIT tagged for our WDNR study.

Big Swedes resort served a great lunch of brats, hamburgers, and all the fixings for about 40 people during our mandatory break on Saturday. A door prize drawing was held and about a third of members received a bait or gift card. President Weidemann won the drawing for a new musky rod. All the kids who showed up for lunch also were giving a bait to help them lure in their next musky. The Blind draw partner tournament was won by the team of Jim Wiltinger and Leif Tolokken with a total of six fish caught. Other anglers to boat eligible muskies during tournament hours were Chuck Ingram, Tim Stensgard, John Degeorge, Jim Mazzone, and Gary Donahue.

The annual Summer Picnic is fast approaching on our regular meeting night of Tuesday July 26th.

The gathering will begin at 5 pm at the park shelter on Lake Neshonec. Dinner will be at 6pm. We are planning the usual array of food, beverages and games. Families are encouraged to attend. Please RSVP by responding to this email or calling Kim at 608-769-1931. We need an accurate count for food since we are having it catered from Big Boar Smokers, so please let us know how many attending. Also, if there are children please include their ages in your response so we can have age appropriate prizes.
